We have found at least one inline POE adapter that can kill the Pi 4 Rev 9 PMIC instantly due to it spiking 9v on startup (on a 5v line!). This gives you some idea of how badly some of these POE devices are designed, so I would recommend testing the adapters thoroughly as they can be a source of problems.Hi,
We started using the newer Raspberry Pi 3B+ PCB Revision 9 board instead of the older PCB Revision 5 board, both getting power through POE (Power over Ethernet). But the Revision 9 board sometimes doesn't start up properly with certain POE switches, even though we didn't change anything in how we're powering it. The main difference between the two boards is PMIC. why the newer board has trouble starting up with some POE switches while the older one didn't have any problems?
