Interesting -- I'll see if I can replicate the issue next week. If I can, I suspect it won't warrant a re-spin of 24.04; it's more like any fix will got into the 24.04.1 release in August (that's when we switch on upgrade prompts for 22.04 users as well). Before the release we do run through a series of tests on all the models with all the images*. Unfortunately, all that testing is done on SD cards. I'll add a USB boot item to the tests as well, as this is intended to be a supported option.I tried a flash drive - installation failed
Next I tried a SD card - installation succeeded :) even the ads display during installation are scrambled and unreadable.
So there is an issue to install Ubuntu 24-04 on any device other than a SD card. I frankly cannot understand why Ubuntu 24-04 is certified for a Raspberry running from a SD card only :?:
The corruption of the slide decks is a known issue (which actually existed back in mantic too), but the fix didn't make it over the line in time for noble's release, and was "not blocking" as it only affects the installer itself, not the subsequent installation. Thankfully a fix is in the works now and things should work properly come 24.04.1.
* Or at least, I try to -- there's some CM4 models I don't have, and often given time constraints I can't complete everything anyway, but the coverage wasn't too bad this time, partly thanks to the lack of armhf images to test on the server side
