Is there any officially sanctioned method for adding an external Wi-Fi antenna to the PI Zero 2W?
No. These posts get locked.
I note there appears to be a place for and 50R IPEX connector, so it would appear to have been thought about at design time, but of course it is not shown on the "redacted" schematics that are provided.
The unpopulated connector is for testing the onboard antenna. It isn’t an external antenna connector.
Wondering why the feature was not provided as standard, given the fact that people might want to put these things inside of metal enclosures.
The certification is only valid with the onboard antenna. CM4 has an external antenna connector but using anything other than the Raspberry Pi supplied antenna means having to recertify it.
