I am looking for a suitable HAT to connect a 4G/LTE modem to a RPI 3 or 4 (not decided yet). The modem is a Fibocom NL952-EAU which has a standard 75 pin M.2 Key-B interface with the following functions: Dual SIM, PCIe 2.0, USB 2.0, USB 3.0 and I2S.
One SIM slot on the HAT board would be sufficient (no need for dual SIM operation)
Regarding power supply, the current of the modem is approx. max. 1A average (2.5A peak).
Ideally, i would want to use PoE to supply the RPI/HAT/Modem, how best to do that
I have seen various HAT boards with M.2 sockets being sold online but are unclear about what I have to watch out for.
Any recommendations are much appreciated
