Displaylink (not to be confused with displayport) does not require anything special from the USB port.USB-C on the Pi5 can't output video!
And you would use the normal USB 3 ports for it.
The displaylink docking stations are quite popular at companies here, because you can plug in any laptop to it. Even those that predate USB-C, and therefore not have the DP alternate mode thing.
