Hi all
Now that "official" RPi SDXC cards and USB adapters have become available, I ordered a 128GB card and one of these adapters (those with two USB plugs) together with a RPI 5 (8GB RAM) to try out.
I inserted the SDXC card into the USB adapter and plugged it into the USB-3 slot. My initial Setup used the firmware based installer (SHIFT key when booting) for OS lite 64bit, enabling SSH and setting username/timezone/keyboard. Everything OK so far, could then login via SSH.
Then I started my installation procedure (proven with two other RPI5 boxes) using ansible scripts. This reproducibly fails with a segfault within libc.bin late in the process, while installing additional packages with apt-get. After this error, the installer can't continue.
When I restart from scratch with a Samsung USB/SDXC adapter instead (containing and reformatting the same "official" RPi SDXC card) everything works flawlessly.
Unfortunately the install procedure is quite complex (including creation of an autoboot partition, preparing for TRYBOOT, re-arranging partitions etc) and the error happens only thereafter.
So my recommendation for now is to be careful using this official USB/SDXC card/adapter combination.
Regards
Marcel
