I'm trying to get mythtv media center to play nicely with DPMS idle screen blanking when using wayfire compositor.
Inhibiting idle timeout while playing video works fine using the idle_inhibit_unstable_v1 wayland protocol.
The media center also interacts with an IR remote control using lirc; the input from the remote control goes directly to the application, so it does not interact with wayfires idle timer.
Extending the idle timer while the display is still active can also be achieved using the idle_inhibit protocol (by creating and immediately destroying an inhibitor object on navigation events in the application).
Unfortunately, that protocol does not resume the display once it's entered idle state - so the question is: how can an application request resumption of display from idle state?
