there are known issues with the SSD USB on Pi4, especially with Jmicron. I suggest that you have a look at the sticky...

I see. I didn't look deep into it as i thought it's a power issue. I'll try to test with powered hub and with quark enabled and see if it makes any different.
I suspect you have some issues with your USB-SATA interface and some interference issues that are impacting WiFi. Better USB-SATA adaptor and better cabling might solve your issues.

I ran for years with a Pi 4B connected to an external SSD. Zero issues.
May I know if you can do anything on your SSD with wifi hotspot fully working? and how do you make the connection between SSD and RPI4? thx!
Get a ferrite clamp for your SATA lead, put one as close to the Pi as you can .... a ferrite clamp at the other end(s) may help as well.

As said, Jmicron chipset generally doesn't work well with linux as a boot drive. Asmedia chipsets normally work.

Your Sigma SSD probably can be powered by your Pi4 provided you haven't got any other serious power draws on USB, mice, non-LED keyboards. and Bluetooth dongles should be ok but not much else. I could find a current/power spec for the SSD.
Great advice! I'll try it later!
Also I wanna see if this is a power related issue or just the USB3 somehow interfered my onboard wifi. My plan will be purchacing a USB-A power sensor module like INA260 and use 15W powerbank(FP-PD10000)'s USB-A port and see what's going on. Any suggestions?
