Yes. Some configuration stuff is done then.Recently tried to startup my new pi zero 2 w. Used pi imager, chose to change password wifi location stuff etc. Put the card in and powered it up. Found the ip address, and did a ssh to the pi. It would not accept the password. I rewrote the image, in case I misspelled my pw. Same deal.
Is there something u ique about first boot?

If so are they both called raspberrypi?

Are you able to directly connect a keyboard and monitor and try logging in that way?
I think next I will just keep the defaults. Really confused.
There is no default user. If you don't set one in imager you'll be prompted to do so during the first boot setup.
